Savannah Bed and Breakfast

Thank you for our experience -  July 2014

It was another great stay and if they gave 6 stars as an option, you would get that from everyone. Please know that the beds are amazing, yes. The location and amenities are amazing, yes. But it's you, Kathleen, what you do, and how you do it that makes The Olde Savannah Inn a 5 stars experience. You are the only reason I didn't try something new. It is my personality type to only try something once, even if I love it... Yet, I am convinced there is only one place for me in Savannah. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your irreplicable passionate love for hospitality.

Paul & Vivian -  June 2013

As we drove into E Gaston Street and our Tom Tom said " you have arrived at your destination on your right" we were excited to see it was the stand out building on a beautiful street of Inns. The English garden was immaculate and there was a small fountain bubbling water. We marched up the impressive staircase and when we entered this magnificent building we were stunned at the immaculate finishings and antique furnishings. Despite being a classic heritage building there is no shortage of modcons with the place nice and cool and fully airconitioned with a lovely aroma of essential oils.We get an early taste of the weekend to come when we are greeted with hugs from the " one woman show " Innkeeper , Kathleen and a friendly welcome from Mr Cooper the wonderful beagle. As we had just driven from Atlanta we are escorted to the ground level Provence Room . My wife and I look at each other with excitement as the room is excellent which is always a relief when you book online. There is a fresh slice of chocolate strawberry cake waiting for us which is a nice touch. A Bose soundbox is playing softly and we are stunned by the library of American classics and books covering most genres. The French antiques are stunning and we are expecting Napolean to wander in. As we unpack we are impressed by the cleanliness which must be done meticulously given the furnishings, window coverings and books. The bathroom is spotless and there is a separate shower which is very large and has fantastic water pressure. The toiletries are of a very high standard and you feels so refreshed after a shower. The bed has perfectly ironed sheets and are top quality which always makes you feel at home and not just in a hotel. Before going to dinner on our first evening we wander upstairs to the living room and the grand piano and chandeliers had us reaching for our camera for photos. We then chatted to Kathleen for an hour as she served us beautiful red wine . She was so engrossing we nearly missed our dinner booking. This is what makes the bed and breakfast experience so special. When we arrived back from dinner we witnessed why the bedsheets feel so fresh as Kathleen was steam pressing them herself. This did not stop her from serving us some tasty Port and sweats as our conversation continued to well after midnight. Next morning when we wake up we can hear Frank Sinatra's dulcet tones coming from upstairs and the beautiful waft of bacon and eggs cooking. The breakfast room is like walking into any European fine dining establishment beautifully set with candles and double napkins which we also saw Kathleen hand pressing the previous evening. The famous breakfasts are spectacular and Kathleen gets a lot of chatter going among the guests where we actually get many hints on what to do in Savannah. On day one the breakfast had beautiful ham ,cheese and pesto sauce over a croissant with eggs with a side of bacon and home made sausage. There was fresh cut fruits, fresh juice and fresh pressed coffee. What a way to start a day in Savannah! Day two we enjoyed delectable blueberry pancakes with homemade frozen whipped cream. During our stay some Savannah rain had us returning home early and we enjoyed lying in the lovely bed watching movies on the flat screen which has so many channels to choose from. Kathleen's little extra touches were on show again as she made us a large bowl of popcorn! When a awesome 2 day stopover came to an end , we knew that we had had a special experience in Savannah when we were given goodbye hugs from Kathleen and there were red eyes all round. After a goodbye photo with Kathleen and Mr Cooper we were on our way to Charleston SC reflecting on a most wonderful weekend . This is a unique bed and breakfast experience where top marks are given for friendliness, cleanliness, quality of linens and toiletries and location. Highly recommended...

Marc & Jeff - September 2012

Last week during a difficult crunch time between job interviews in the South, my Partner and I set off to The Olde Savannah Inn seeking a well-deserved weekend break. Upon a late evening arrival, we wandered in together and were graciously met by Kathleen -- the owner/proprietor.  She immediately charmed my Partner and me.  After wandering into the front door we felt the romance of the hotel.  From the start, Kathleen wholeheartedly welcomed us; and, revealed to us her special abilities to make us feel at home, combined with her attention to detail. Our room was the Renaissance Suite.  It was quiet, clean and comfortable.  We had two chandeliers -- in the bedroom and the spacious bathroom!  The carved 4-poster bed made for a unique and grand sleeping experience. We immediately came to realize the benefits intelligent service.  Kathleen answered all of our questions about the hotel and helped guide our understanding of Savannah for only a 2 night visit. She expertly meshed our wishes with our needs for getting the best slice of Savannah for a weekend visit:  the best restaurant recommendations, sights not to miss, and insider tips. The morning breakfast ROCKED!  The meal was prepared from scratch and could rival any gourmet breakfast restaurant and included fresh baked peach cobbler. Our weekend at The Olde Savannah Inn made our weekend Savannah experience extra special.  We are certain that but for our stay at the hotel, we would not have had what became a memorable trip to Savannah.  Kathleen's special character and skills – which are exemplary, and are rare in this day and age -- separate those who place “first” from the “also-rans.”

We wish The Olde Savannah Inn every success and look forward to returning very soon!

My wife and I stayed at the Olde Savannah Inn April 12-15. What a great stay! If you've read the other reviews here, you know that the inn is beautiful and well appointed. We stayed in the Verailles-court room. Great room! The bedding was so luxurious and comfortable that we had a hard time getting up in time for the 9am breakfast. And speaking of breakfast, the owner, Kathleen, will make you the best breakfast you've ever had. I am dead-serious about that. We travel a lot and have never had better breakfasts anywhere in the world! Kathleen cares so much about the inn and that the guests are comfortable and having a good time. And on that, she certainly delivered. The inn is wonderful, the breakfasts are world-class, and we had a fantastic and memorable stay.

We checked into the Olde Savannah Inn for a 2 night stay and were very impressed with the level of service and free-range of the house. The other guests are warm and pleasant the atmosphere is exquisite. The linens are of the highest quality and the beds are incredible. I am a world traveler and have stayed in some of the most exquisite hotels, palaces and private estates in the world, and I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast of this caliber in the United States. It’s even a top runner-up on the European front (for the price and amenities/service). The style is a very tasteful mix of Old World European, mixed with colonial elements and all sorts of Savannah relics, books, and history of course, plenty of hospitality. The house itself embraces you and it really makes you feel like you live right in the middle of historic Savannah. The prices (while high) cannot be marched anywhere in Savannah (that we have seen thus far).

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at the Olde Savannah Inn. Our hostess and innkeeper, Kathleen, was so warm and hospitable. The house was elegant and wonderfully restored, yet comfortably as well. The Provence Room was available for our stay. We loved the cozy, almost cottage, feel it provided within the historic district. The fountain in the garden just outside our room was a wonderful touch and example of the detail and thought Kathleen has put into this gem of an inn. The linens were very comfortable and the room immaculate. Each evening we found a sweet treat waiting for us to enjoy from a slice of Coca Cola cake to a chocolate chip cookie. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed items such as fresh fruit, crème brulee French toast, blueberry pancakes with fresh whipped crème, and omelet’s with goat cheese, fresh herbs and tomato, all served with a side of bacon and sausage. Kathleen helped us with reservations and tour advice as this was our first trip to Savannah. We would love to return to Savannah and The Olde Savannah Inn.

Kent and Mamie Gunter

Dear Kathleen,

Mamie and I would just like to say thank you for an exceptional night at The Olde Savannah Inn. Our time spent with you and your staff was the highlight of our entire honeymoon and will not soon be forgotten. During our stay your southern hospitality and attention to every detail was truly manifested in every way possible. Both the evening seven course dinner and the five course breakfast were exceptional and incomparable with any fine dining we have ever experienced. The thoughtfulness you showed us by turning down the sheets, placing flowers in the room and just the general friendliness, kindness, and extraordinary attention to detail showed the extent of your desire to establish a bed and breakfast of distinction. We thank you again for the wonderful memories and look forward to future stay at the Olde Savannah Inn.

On a recent visit to Savannah we stumbled across this exquisite B & B and met the lovely innkeeper Kathleen. She was worth the trip to Savannah! We asked if we could see her Inn and she not only invited us in, but upon finding out it was my husband’s birthday invited us to have cake with her and her guests! The amenities are 5 stars! How can we describe such a beautiful and romantic inn? The web site is but a glimpse of the inn’s beauty. Kathleen recently opened the inn and the guests we met were beaming with pleasure and didn’t want to leave to go home. She has a gift of hospitality and treats her guests and even those who aren’t her guests... as royalty.

We look forward to booking our next stay in Savannah at this remarkable inn!

John and Carol

Dear Kathleen,

It was John and my first trip to Savannah and the Olde Savannah Inn. We loved both of them! Both are sumptuously lovely, elegant, and genteel. Your warmth and friendliness was the icing on the cake. (And certainly the great breakfast was too!) I really appreciated the five star hotel qualities of the room and bath as well as how immaculate everything was. Five star hotels will never compare to the charm and beauty The Olde Savannah Inn has and your attention to fine detail. We couldn’t have picked a better introduction for ourselves. I hope we’ll be back soon.
