Savannah Fashion Week

Kevin Cartee, Image Consultant/Wardrobe Stylist

When you think of Savannah one conjures up many thoughts; Antebellum homes, moss, and even Paula Deen. However, something you may not have thought about is Savannah's rich and growing fashion and style community.

In the heart of Savannah, Savannah College of Art and Design as well as Savannah Arts Academy certainly keep the Savannah Fashion Community teaming with new talent.

Savannah is certainly proud of her Art Schools. “Georgia’s First City” also brags about the many artists and fashion professionals such as Makeup Artists, Hair Stylist, Image Consultants & Wardrobe Stylists, and Boutique Owners.

Savannah Fashion Week runs from 4/22/13 – 4/26/13 and showcases events, such as trunk shows and runway shows, that run throughout the week.

What is a “Trunk Show”? Well, I’m glad you asked.

A trunk show is an event where designers or clothing vendors set up a “pop up shop” in a store or other venue. These vendors sell clothes directly to customers.

If you are a “friend of fashion” and plan to visit Savannah, GA during Fashion Week, I would love to offer you the schedule of events – my treat.

The SID Fashion Show is sure to end Savannah Fashion Week with a bang.

Savannah Style Expert Style Tip:

Women: Ladies look out for dresses with a built in bib necklace. I find that everywhere I go these and dresses/tops with a peplum skirt are very popular.

Men: Gents keep your eyes peeled for bow ties and mixing and matching patterns. It’s a little thing I like to call “Enjoy the Clash.” This year, it’s okay that your outfit does not coordinate perfectly. It is all about finding complementing colors and in the same family and then kicking your outfit up a notch with different patterns and textures.
