For many years, guests of The Olde Savannah Inn were greeted with the wagging tail of Dakotah, part Labrador part concierge.  When Dakotah passed away, the  bed and breakfast mourned the loss, but pressed on.  Recently, Kathleen heard about a sweet beagle that needed her help.  Cooper had been abandoned on the side of the road.  He was found and placed in a shelter, but Cooper's time was rapidly running out.  He had to be adopted or would be put to sleep.  A plea went out to save Cooper's life and people began spreading the word.  Kathleen learned of Cooper's situation through her daughter and decided to spring into action.  She began corresponding with the people in North Carolina where Cooper was being held.  Incidentally, one of the women had stayed at the inn and remembered her.  Working quickly, paperwork and other obstacles were overcome and Cooper had a new lease on life.  Upon entering the inn for the first time, he strode in eager to explore his new home.  Cooper has now taken up where Dakotah left off; welcoming guests and helping them feel like they too are at home.

Fabrika Fine Fabrics: Locally owned and operated fabric store will be holding a day long trunk show in honor of their patrons and designers. Be prepared to shop “ready to wear” items made by local Savannah Designers.

Red Clover Boutique: Known for supporting local designers and even my winter scarf lines, Red Clover Boutique will be hosting Sabrina Spanta which is currently in the “Emerging Designer Contest” at Charleston Fashion Week. Santa’s designs as well as many others will be available all day.

Trunk13 Boutique: Trunk 13 Boutique, know for it’s fashion forward collections, will be offering a trunk show of fabulous handbags by Pour La Victoire.

Satchel.: Starting at 12pm and ending at 6pm, Satchel. (a local bag design company) will be holding a workshop where you can pick your own leather and create your own handbag, coozie, key chain, or wallet. I and my clients show their frequently. This is a stop during Savannah Fashion Week I would not miss.

Terra Cotta: Pop into Terra Cotta near City Market as they host a jewelry trunk show by Christi Reiterman and a second one by Liz Moore of ShopBlithe.

Zia Boutique: Zia Boutique is always sure to excite the fashion enthusiast and Savannah Fashion Week is no exception. Zia Boutique boasts an exotic trunk show by Kelly Parker Designs that will take place Wednesday, 12pm-6pm.

The SID Fashion Show is sure to end Savannah Fashion Week with a bang.

Women: Ladies look out for dresses with a built in bib necklace. I find that everywhere I go these and dresses/tops with a peplum skirt are very popular. 

Men: Gents keep your eyes peeled for bow ties and mixing and matching patterns. It’s a little thing I like to call “Enjoy the Clash.” This year, it’s okay that your outfit does not coordinate perfectly. It is all about finding complementing colors and in the same family and then kicking your outfit up a notch with different patterns and textures.

A Look Inside a Savannah Bed & Breakfast Inn

A friend of mine virtually introduced me to a local innkeeper who runs a Savannah Bed & Breakfast on beautiful Gaston Street, so I could not wait to get by to meet her in person. Gardens always motivate me and peeking behind a secret pathway to view cozy sitting areas and new plants got me there quick.

Kathleen Dupois is the proprietor of the Olde Savannah Inn, one of the finest bed and breakfast establishments I’ve ever stepped into. I was truly amazed to find not only beautiful antiques, but amazing chandeliers and French decor which compliments the mansion without overdoing it.

My favorite spot is the fresh and bright breakfast room which allows visitors to look out to the gardens. Can you believe I forgot my camera? I “borrowed” this photo of the breakfast room from the net, and can tell you the room does look like this! It’s amazing and Southern Living magazine really needs to come and see! Then I found out what Kathleen serves at her breakfast celebrations. Who else has a candlelight breakfast and serves Creme Brûlée in the morning??

Kathleen took me upstairs to the honeymoon suite and my jaw nearly dropped! Steps away from the four post bed, marble floors take you to a large jacuzzi tub, two pedestal sinks and his and hers claw foot tubs.

This is where we will be sending our out of town guests and inquiring visitors. Did I mention the 800 count sheets? True elegance and luxury.
